Why I Hate PDFs
Maybe if Adobe works on it, for another 20 years or so; and maybe if "The PDF" is included in school curriculum from 1st grade through High School, right along side reading, writing, and arithmetic, I won't have anything to gripe about, but I'm impatient. So this will be the first in a blog mini-course on how to save out a PDF for a commercial printer. All you cubicle denizens pay attention. I'm only gonna go over this once.
Lesson 1 - Resolution (you really don't know what your PDF looks like)
Here's why. By default, Acrobat is set to smooth text, line art, and images. Take a minute and go to Acrobat preferences.
Change the pull down menu, next to Smooth Text, to None, and uncheck the boxes for Smooth line art, and Smooth Images. Now take a look at what your PDF really looks like.
So, stop saying "It doesn't look like the PDF."
